bad chicken! mess you up!

I missed work today due to illness for the second time this year. I got food poisoning, and spent the better part of the hours between 5 and 10am vomiting and...you know...uncontrollably. My Korean boss took me to a doctor around 11 or so, who put a couple needles in my arse and gave me a few days worth of pills. The culprit, he said, was most likely the chicken I made for dinner last night.

This was the third time I've been to a doctor in Korea, not including the mandatory check up I had shortly after arriving. All in all, I think I've had 8 needles in my body this year. That seems, to me, to be a lot more than usual.

So, the doctor gave me the shots, gave me the pills, told me to eat some rice porridge and drink hot water. I don't know if hot water is some sort of Eastern medicine panacea, but every time I've been sick here someone has told me to drink it.

It appears that I'm on the road to recovery. I haven't felt the need to vomit in about 12 hours, and I've gotten a bit of an appetite back. I certainly hope it's over; my time with my students is rapidly running out, and it upsets me to have a day with them stolen from me.
