small world

I haven't posted in ages. I wish I had an excuse.

I meet a lot of new people over here, it's the product of being a part of an expat community. When meeting someone new, one of the first questions is guaranteed to be "Where are you from?" Last year I would tell people I was from Philadelphia, because it's famous and people know where it is. This year though I'm more honest, and tell people Delaware. You know what I've found? When you tell someone you're from Delaware, there's a 95% chance that person will quote this

However, I've been amazed at how many Delaware connections there are here. One guy I know, from Ireland, lived in Delaware for two years. He came to the States without a plan, and got on the first bus he saw, which just happened to be going to Rehoboth, Delaware. He got a job there and, yeah, lived in Delaware for two years.

Another friend of mine, who is one of like 5 people I've met in Gwangju who really are from Philadelphia, dated a girl who went to the University of Delaware. He used to visit the campus during the time I was enrolled there. It's pretty much guaranteed that we were both in Grotto's or someplace together at least once.

And last night I met some guy who was raised in Wilmington from the ages of 2-15. He lived on Concord Pike. Crazy, right?

So, you can travel 7,000 miles and still find people who know about shitty old Delaware.

  2. You waited a month to tell us that people have heard of Delaware? Must be exciting times over there. Did you sign up for a third year? Maybe you meet someone from Ohio. Tell us about some Korean tail or something. Damn bro you're getting lazy. Also I'm in first in fantasy again.
