another day

I had a student loose a tooth in class today. This has happened before, and every time it grosses me out. Of course, once upon a time I lost teeth as well, but now the idea of it is very unsettling to me. It's like a piece of the kid's body just fell off. I don't know, it's just weird.

My school, which recently changed ownership, its changing its name as well. As I've explained before, English language academies are like restaurant chains over here. It's kinda like today I work for Arby's, but next month we're switching to a Taco Bell. The only things that are changing are the paint job and the menu.

As part of the switch, tomorrow I have to show up to work at 9am. We're going to have a meet and greet with the kids' parents, I guess to explain the changes that will take place and allay any concerns they might have. It should be easy, but having to go to work 5 hours earlier than normal is a drag. Quite honestly don't have to do anything other than stand there, smile, and be a white person.

The Koreas are in the news again. If you're worried about me, don't be. I've seen no cause for alarm, and nobody has said anything to me to make me feel otherwise. Today was just another day on the Korean Peninsula.
