My first year in Korea I went the entire time without seeing a single retarded Korean person. I saw two today. Weird, innit?
I had my first day of teaching today. Having had 4 days of observing classes, the kids are all used to me by now. I think they like me.
My school this year is quite different from my school last year. Classes are generally smaller, and the curriculum is a lot more regimented. There's not a lot of freedom for me to do what I want. It's nice on the one hand because I don't have to spend time creating lesson plans. On the other hand it's pretty repetitive, so it might be difficult to keep myself and the kids from being bored to death.
Another difference is how I'm known to the students. Last year I was simply called by my first name. This year I'm Mr. Diehl. It's the first time in my life that I've been called that. It takes some getting used to.
Tonight is my last night in the love motel. Around noon tomorrow I move into an apartment. I saw it last weekend. It has pink wallpaper.
There's a tremendous storm going on right now. Crashing thunder and everything.
